Storyboards and animatics are key in the pre-production of any animation, film or series. It is where the script begins to manifest itself as images and we begin to define the tempo and rhythm of the story. We begin to visualize the scenes, the compositions, the characters interacting in the space designed in the text. It is the first moment in which the most basic units of the script, the “beats”, begin to make sense in time, like a melody.
